Happy Thanksgiving!

I have so much to be thankful for this year–the most wonderful husband, an adorable furbaby, great friends, supportive family, bountiful travel opportunities, time to pursue writing and art, living in the most beautiful place in the world…. This year we have exciting news to be thankful for: the Scottish playboy and I are expecting our very own secret baby!
We found out this week that we are having a little girl, and now visions of sugarplums, tea parties and fairy princess dresses are dancing in our heads. Our little bundle of joy is due April 5th.
Name suggestions??? We’re looking for something not too popular, but not too weird, that will fit our heroine-in-training.
I hope everyone had a fabulous thanksgiving and that your holiday season is merry and joyful. May you read many good books!

*pink confetti*
I’ve suspected since Halloween and kept waiting for you to say something! Yay! I’m so so so so thrilled for you. And I just LURVE girls! Oh names… I am partial to names ending in ‘A.’ Names like Anna, Maria, Hannah, Sarah, Olivia, Gabriella, Isabella, Bella, Emma, etc… I think Emma is a lovely name for a heroine-in-training.
Thank you so much for sharing your news! I’m so happy.

Congratulations!
But were you also the blackmailed secretary/mistress of the Scottish playboy?
I’m partial to gaelic names, which would seem to fit you two. Looking forward to seeing what you decide on!

Congratulations! I was doing a tiny wee bit of GH procrastinating and popped over to catch up and WOWZA. What fun news.
Names – well, kind of like naming a character, isn’t it? In my family we had to accommodate the Dear Canadian’s Anglo-non ethnic background, plus my Eastern European/must be a Saint in the Church somewhere requirement … and, my cousins between them have 19 children under 10 so I didn’t want to duplicate any of the names already used so that ruled out a fair number … so what are your ethnic naming constraints, if any? And where do you fall on the popular/trendy vs. old-fashioned name spectrum?
In the past I ran a preschool waitlist for two years, and I can say that vowel-consonant-vowel type names are exceedingly popular right now for girls (Emma, Ava, Ella in all its forms, ie, Isabella, Bella, etc). Honestly, so popular in this part of the country that your daughter would probably have 3 others in her class. For boys the surprisingly popular name that I can’t get the origins of is any form of Jairen/Jayden/Jared/Jaidan etc. And it seems like every fifth boy is named Owen, Oscar, Jack, Max or Alex.
Names you never see anymore for small children but which are perfectly nice? Jennifer, Lisa, Stephanie, Mary, Nancy, Marian, Ingrid, Judy/Judith, Catherine. For boys: Jeffrey, Stephen, Mark and Charles.
Back to Golden Heart!
Congratulations! Anna

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! OMG that’s so totally awesome Ciara! Congratulations my friend!
What hubby and I did with our two girls…We took 1 baby name book (I know there are so many to choose from but just pick 1) then we went through an alphabet letter a night. We never saw each others selections. Then on the 27th night we switched papers and crossed off whatever we didn’t like. When we were done we wrote a separate list of the remaining names and chose from there. That’s how we did it with both girls and each time we were only left with 4 names. Sounds strange but it worked!

Wow, now I don’t feel so bad that I didn’t find out until I did. LOL!
Hmm…well, knowing what you plan on as a middle name, there are a gazillion names you could go for. Of course, you don’t want any weird acronyms with the middle and last name either. Hmmm.
I like Isabella, Anna, Linnea…I’m sure I could come up with zillions more.
