Christine - Thanks! The blog started when I suddenly fell head over heels in love with romance novels and desperately wanted to talk to someone, anyone, about how wonderful they are. Despite my best efforts, I have yet to addict any of my friends to the genre. But I have discovered hundreds of new online friends who love it just as much as I do. Yay! The internet is a wonderful place. Blogging is addicting.

Just spent some time exploring your blog... I like it a lot. Also just wanted to tell you that this is one of the most well written 'about me' sections on a blog. The pic, your personal blurb, the quotes and the FAQ's. Very nice! :)

The Queen of Regency Romance Reigns Again!

Sourcebooks, Inc. is proud to announce that beginning with our Fall 2007 season, we will be publishing the incomparable Georgette Heyer’s classic novels. As her multitude of fans already knows, Georgette Heyer is credited with creating the genre of Regency romance that is still popular today. Many of her backlist titles have not been available for a long time and we are excited to present them to her hungry audience in trade paperback.

We are beginning publication of Heyer’s books with two of her most beloved titles—An Infamous Army (ISBN: 978-1-4022-1007-5; September 2007; $14.95 U.S./ $19.95 CAN) and Cotillion (ISBN: 978-1-4022-1008-2; October 2007; $12.95 U.S./ $16.95 CAN). Both books are brilliant examples of the meticulously researched Regency novels she is known for.

An Infamous Army: A Novel of Love, War, Wellington and Waterloo

In the summer of 1815, with Napoleon Bonaparte marching down from the north, Brussels is a whirlwind of parties, balls and soirees. In the swirling social scene surrounding the Duke of Wellington and his noble aides de camp, no one attracts more attention than the beautiful, outrageous young widow Lady Barbara Childe. On their first meeting, dashing Colonel Charles Audley proposes to her, but even their betrothal doesn't calm her wild behavior. Finally, with the Battle of Waterloo raging just miles away, civilians fleeing and the wounded pouring back into the town, Lady Barbara discovers where her heart really lies, and like a true noblewoman, she rises to the occasion, and to the demands of love, life and war.

Cotillion

Freddy is a most unusual hero. He’s immensely rich, of course, and not bad-looking, especially with his ultra-starched shirt points and elegant quizzing glass, but hardly a ladies’ man. He gets engaged to his cousin Kitty only to help her get away from their irascible Great-uncle Matthew. The two head for London, where a series of hilarious mishaps threaten their charade. But Freddy discovers hitherto unplumbed depths of cleverness and practicality beneath his dandyish exterior, and Kitty discovers that the rake she was in love with can’t hold a candle to her Freddy. He sets every mishap and adventure to rights in the end, surprising all (especially himself) and winning his heart’s desire.

About the Author

Georgette Heyer wrote more than 50 novels, including Regency romances, mysteries and historical fiction. She was a bestselling author her entire life without the aid of publicity, selling over 20 million copies of her books. Heyer was known as the Queen of the Regency romance and was legendary for her research, historical accuracy and extraordinary plots and characterizations.
